Walk on Thirassia
Island that is a bit like Oia dating 60 years back
No tourists and only recently the one main road got asphalted till half of the island
A school class with 7 teachers has 6 students and the goods like clothing's you buy from a car that visits the island for 4 hours
Old terasses where wine used to grow
Abandoned houses and decaying walls on abandoned places
Land gets plowed with one iron-plow and a donkey
And hunting small birds is a popular habit
It makes me smile
The hand sculpted island

-
we went looking for an abandoned village in one of the valleys of Thirassia
gossip was ´´A empty old village, covered with lemon-tree´s . and people haven´t been
there in years and years´´

we found the village...a few lemon tree´s indeed...lots of cacti blocking entrances of houses
some 20 houses empty.
Geraniums from the owners that left grow wildly

-
Pumice-stone was mined on Thirassia and one of the use was in their architecture
used for making the roof because of the ability to be strong but not heavy, keeping out the heat and moist.
nowadays they just use concrete but this is a lovely example of the antique use of the pumice.

salt
a few times a day the waves throw themselves on the higher rocks and leave
a tiny pool of seawater to dry in the Greek sun.
Highly concentrated water with salt is left and crystals develop

the hedgehog got tumbled over and over again by the ocean-waves
the ocean took out the body and spat out the hedgehog´s jacket to dry in the summer-sun

these are signs for the garden I made
since there were no nails I had to use the snails to hold on to
the signs
by the time the seeds show they are alfalfa, chilli and basil plants
the snails have left to green plants to eat ....ow that is wrong!..
